Fault finding tests

For fault finding purposes we have developed the following tests that will eliminate likely causes:

Diagnostic 1:

Unplug the ecobutton™ from its USB port.

Then do Start > Run > and type ecobutton in the run command

If this shuts down your systems, the problem is with the USB system/plug or cable and/or the ecobutton™ itself.

Diagnostic 2:

If Diagnostic 1 fails, click Start > Run > and type cmd in the run command

Then type the following command into the command prompt window rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

Then hit enter

This should then suspend the system immediately,

If this was successful hit any key to wake the computer back up.

If that works, the issue is with the ecobutton program.

If it fails, the issue is with the PC and/or Windows.

Note: Ideally a full system restart should be performed before test 1 and test 2.
