Symptom: After Pressing the Ecobutton my computer wakes on its own (XP)

Remedy:

The computer is coming out of ecomode on its own, there are a couple of reasons as to why this might be happening:

1. This problem may occur on a Windows PC that is not running service pack 2 or later.
To resolve the problem please update Windows to at least Service Pack 2 via Windows update.

2. Your Network Card is waking your computer (Wake up on LAN is enabled on your network card)

Go into Control Panel, select System then select the Hardware tab.
Click on the Device Manager button, then expand Network Adaptor (click on the plus sign).
Select your network adaptor by Right Clicking on it and then select Properties.
Select the Power Management tab.
Tick the top box "Allow computer to turn off this device"
Un- tick the bottom box "Allow this device to bring computer out of standby"

3. Some mice have been found to be "over active" and can therefore bring you PC out of sleep, to test this disconnect your mouse and put your PC to sleep to test if the same thing happens.

Note: To view what devices can bring your PC out of standby click

Start then click run

Then type cmd which should bring up a Command window.

Now type powercfg -devicequery wake_armed and hit enter.
This should give you a list of the devices that can wake your PC.
