Symptom : After my computer wakes a hardware device doesn't restarting or I have lost connectivity (Vista)

Remedy:

Some Devices on your computer may not be set up with the correct power management options, in order to set these correctly a few minor adjustments may be required.

1. USB devices including modems need to be adjusted to the correct settings for when the computer is put into standby.

Click on the Control Panel, then click on System,

then Device Manager, Right click on the device in question and select Properties

then go to the Power Management tab and try checking the tick box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Now test to see if this cures the issue.

2. The device in question may have an old device driver that is out of date

Use the "Update driver" button on the driver tab to obtain the latest driver and test to see if this cures the issue.

3. If you are using Windows Vista and a wireless connection go to Control Panel - Networks and Sharing Centre - Manage Wireless Networks.

Right click on the network you typically connect to and go to Properties. Under the Connection tab tick "Connect automatically when this network is in range".
