Fault finding tests

For fault finding purposes we have developed the following tests that will eliminate likely causes:

Diagnostic 1:

Unplug the ecobutton™ from its USB port.

Then click Start > Run > and type ecobutton in the run command.

If this shuts down your system, the problem is with the USB system/plug or cable and/or the ecobutton™ itself.

Diagnostic 2:

If Diagnostic 1 fails to highlight the problem, click Start > Run > and type cmd in the run command.

Then type the following command into the command prompt window (you can copy and paste the following text)
rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

This should then suspend the system immediately. If this was successful hit any key to wake the computer back up

If that works, the issue is with the ecobutton program.

If it fails, the issue is with the PC and/or Windows.

Note: Ideally a full system restart should be performed before test 1 and test 2.
