Your PC shuts down OK with ecobutton™ but won't reactivate when you press the keyboard (XP) - this should replace the current version on the ecobutton site

Possible Solutions:

1. Some PCs and laptops require a momentary press of the power button instead of pressing a key on your keyboard. In this case, a short press of the power button should return your computer to the previous working environment.

2. Some computers may require you to activate your keyboard to allow it to wake your PC. To activate your keyboard take the following steps:
1. Click 'start' in the bottom left of your screen
2. Then click 'Control Panel'
4. Now double click keyboard'

3. As all PC manufacturers use differing default settings for power management it may be necessary to make a minor adjustment within the BIOS settings.

You won't need to make any detailed adjustments to your BIOS settings and you can make the following without difficulty:

From a cold start go into the BIOS (very first prompt you will see when starting up, you will need to tap a key to do this normally F12, F2 or DELETE. your PC will tell you which key on startup).

Once in BIOS, go to INTERGRATED PERIPHERALS (or similar) tab

and enable USB keyboard support, and then save.
Now continue to boot up your PC as normal.
